30 HuaChang hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks boost Zhangjiagang’s new journey toward green logistics.
The gentle breeze of hydrogen sweeps through this port city, lighting the way to a green future. On November 28, 2025, the grand opening ceremony for the Zhangjiagang North Station freight yard was held with great fanfare. Thirty hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks, each equipped with a 120kW hydrogen fuel cell engine from Huachang Energy, were neatly lined up in formation. Despite their compact size, these trucks deliver powerful performance, boasting a range of up to 600 kilometers when fully fueled. Moreover, they can be refueled in just 15 minutes—a perfect match for the efficient operational demands of logistics and transportation. This marks the launch of a brand-new cargo hub, infused with a robust “hydrogen” power source.
As the first railway freight hub in Zhangjiagang City, for a long time, logistics for businesses in the region have primarily relied on road and waterway transportation. Now, with the commissioning of this brand-new hub, a diversified transport model—combining “road-rail intermodal transport” and “rail-water衔接”—offers more flexible options for both inbound raw materials and outbound products.
The addition of these 30 Huachang hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks precisely leverages green power to empower this new logistics hub, ushering in a new model of synergistic development characterized by “zero-carbon transportation + efficient hub,” and setting a new benchmark for green freight transport.
